The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) has launched a new website intended to help move traffic along by getting real-time and verified information to drivers throughout the state. The website, CT Travel Smart,1 allows drivers to get personalized results regarding traffic and filter by incidents, road work, and delays. Visitors to the site can view results across the entire state or filter by a specific region.
According to a report2 published by NBC Connecticut, the state spent $150,000 on the site, 80 percent of which was funded by the federal government. The site is mobile-responsive, which makes it easily viewable on a smartphone. Drivers can sign up to receive personalized alert messages regarding roads or particular routes by phone or text.
DOT Supervising Engineer John Korte believes the fact that drivers have real-time information available to them will allow them to make better decisions along their travel routes.
Information is Critical to Safe Driving in Winter Weather
With several more weeks of winter ahead, the website has the potential to help drivers avoid involvement in accidents and serious delays. Conditions such as snow and ice have the potential to wreak havoc on roads within the area, sometimes resulting in accidents that can cause serious injuries, including the following
-Traumatic brain injury -Spinal cord injuries -Burns -Broken bones -Facial fractures | -Crush injuries -Amputations -Concussions -Internal injuries -Lacerations |
Fortunately for individuals hurt in accidents, Connecticut law entitles people injured by the negligence of others to recover compensation for their injuries. Consequently, you should speak to a lawyer as soon as you can after you are hurt in a wreck. A lawyer will review the facts of your case and let you know whether or not you have a claim to pursue. If you do, he or she will negotiate a settlement with the insurance company or file a lawsuit on your behalf.
Some of the damages that you may be able to recover include the following:
- Medical expenses
- Lost income
- Loss of quality of life
- Physical and emotional pain and suffering
Because every case is different, it is simply not possible to predict the value of your case without conducting a thorough individualized analysis. When you meet with a lawyer, he or she will be able to give you an idea of how much you may be able to recover.
